From Our Current WWoof USA, Work-A-Way, & HelpX Listing:
This host offers full season WWOOFing, Help Exchange, and Workaway opportunities.
Located in the beautiful Southern Appalachian Mountain range of East Tennessee. Our farm has been in the same family since 1809.
We grow hay, market garden, corn, donkey's, cattle, rabbits & chickens.
Minimum length of stay is 2 weeks. Please check out the Calendar page on our website, as I try to keep up with happenings in our area for your down time.
For your off time plans, please check our calendar on the website. I try to keep up with great things going on in our area.
All farming activities, plus light construction and restoration. We are very involved in our community with all things farming and our local tourism. So a stay with us can be quite an experience in learning for you. We also want you to have a great time and give you a great experience while you are here.
Current New Plans:
*Hang shed door that wind blew off.
*Build new shed, the wood shop has outgrown its ability to be functional.
*Planning this year's garden crops & placing heritage seed orders.
*Setting up for our new rabbits & chickens. Woo-Hoo, got the first of the chickens, now have to fix the coop.
*Renovating house basement for new bunkhouse.
*Creating walking paths through our woods for dog walking trails.
*Assisting with Appalachian Trail hikers at hostel on Viking Mountain. If you are experienced in food service, you may be able to pick up some extra cash by waitress work at the hostel.
*Assisting with our local Farmers Market during summer months, we will be selling at the market this year.
*Assisting with local Horse Rescue, if you are an experienced rider, you can pick up some cash by leading trail rides in your free time.
We are always loaded with lists of things to get done, and somewhere in there the haying has to happen, usually twice each summer.
We are also a full scale animal kennel facility operation. We board, rescue and also train service dogs here. A small amount of kennel work will occur daily.
*Dogs welcome, BUT if they are not on total verbal control and any disruption occurs, the dogs will be kenneled when you are not on your down time. We have livestock, chickens and our own dogs who have priority.
Be clean, willing to work, non-smoking. Absolutely NO SMOKING on our property. Our trees lead to the National Forest and we love it the way it is.
We have an absolute NO TOLERANCE policy for drugs, alcohol and smoking.
