Storage
Plastic containers and barrels are best for water storage.
- Food containers are marked with a triangle enclosing the number 2
- Containers must be sealed tightly and stored in a cool area away from light
- Replace drinking water storage every six months
- Barrels of cleaning water can be treated and last for five years
Purification
- Safest method is boiling for 3-5 minutes, cool before drinking
- Household bleach (sodium hypochlorite) at 16 drops per gallon of water, let stand 30 minutes before consuming
