Disasters always happen to someone else, or do they?
Guess What?
A Tornado Rocked our placid little community April 27, 2011, just a couple of weeks after I started designing this page!
Possible disaster issues in our area.
Tornado
Tornado of April 27, 2011
After years of complacency, figuring that we were safe from this horrendous storm type, we were hit by the devestating tornado system that hammered the entire south, starting in Louisana.
We were fortunate that we have minimal damage to our home, and we will have to take down about eight trees around our home. The storm was 10 - 20' above ground when it went over our house.
We have lost seven memebers our our community and countless others have become homeless, pray for them, and if you can, please donate to assist them. We will see that your donations get to the Camp Creek disaster victims.

National Trail Days Fundraiser for Camp Creek Tornado Victims
Hemlock Hollow Inn will be conducting a fundraiser event on June 4 for victims of the April 27, 2011 Tornado in Greene County.
Please help support these people who have lost so very much. To arrange for pickup of Material Donations will be picked up if you call 423-552-1416. Please come to the fundraiser! This fundraiser was a great success, and over $3,000.00 was raised. I will keep these donation buttons live for the next year, as dollars are still needed in an ongoing basis. Also, household items to replace all those regular everyday things that we take for granted, and they blew away in the tornado. |
Earth Quake
Occasionally we feel tremors from small earthquakes that originate normally around Oak Ridge and run up to around Knoxville, and a few years ago, Hot Springs, NC, which is just 20 minutes over the mountain by car. My bed shook, and Domino & Scrappy both jumped up and alerted toward Hot Springs. After going through a minor quake in Illinois back in the sixties, I knew what was going on, but by the time I decided to do something about being on top of the bed, the tremor had passed. Same thing happened in Illinois, by the time I figured I should get out of the house the shake-rattle-&-roll was over with. Pray it is always that way.
