Chickens
Our life is getting pretty plucky/clucky now.
Went out last Saturday and purchased some laying hens. They are Buff Orpington's, and a couple of Buff, Barred Rock crosses. So far, four of them are laying, so we are now receiving four eggs a day.
Hubby says one of the chickens is pretty clucky, and is probably getting ready to set. This being so, we will probably be raising even more chickens.
In April, we will receive the chicks that have been ordered. Five Buff pullets, five Barred Rock pullets and one Barred Rock Rooster. So...once I get them all raised I will have fourteen Buff Orpington hens, two Buff/Barred cross hens, five Barred hens, one Buff roo and one Barred roo. In order to keep my chicks pure, I am going to have to manage my roo's separately. Back to the drawing board.
Boy these chickens can sure eat!

Buff Orpington / Barred Rock Cross
We have two crossed pullets, pictures coming shortly. I have to capture photo's of them, and one is constantly on the alert to escape out the hen house door and into the wild. Gonna have to name that one.
